Recently we had a Mastermind where the uber-smart Dr. Summer Kassmel spoke on how she prioritizes the CEO time she gets when she’s not seeing patients. She’s been a role model for many doctors, myself included, because of her focus during this time.
One of the most poignant comments she made during her talk was that we get ‘Complacent and comfortable in the whirlwind’. The whirlwind is described in the book, “The 4 Disciplines of Execution” (we call it 4DX), by author Stephen Covey. He introduces us to the concept of the ‘Whirlwind’, which is a representation of the important/urgent activity needed to run the every-day functions in your business. The whirlwind of day-to-day activity can suck up attention and make it difficult to focus or make any progress on your strategic priorities.
See the video below where I discuss this:
How do you get out of the whirlwind? Focus and goals.
What are your goals- and have you written them down? Are they SMART? Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Time-bound
We usually say from “X → Y by When”.
So, give some thought to that this week, and if you need help with that, the Dental Success University course inside DSN can help a bunch. Check it out here for members.
